How do I set up two-factor authentication?
Starting 9/16/2026, B-Stock accounts can be protected with two-factor authentication (2FA). When it’s on, signing in takes two things: your password and a one-time code you get on a device only you have.
Before you start
You’ll need one of these:
- Your email inbox — the one on your B-Stock account
- A mobile phone that can receive text messages
- An authenticator app on your phone — like Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or Authy. You can install any authenticator app available on your mobile device store if you don’t already have one.
You can set up more than one method, and you can add or remove methods later.

Step 1 — Open the setup screen
When you sign in to B-Stock, you’ll see the Enable two-factor screen automatically.
Step 2 — Choose how you want to get your codes
Pick one of the three options at the top of the card: Email, SMS, or Authenticator app.
Option A — Email
1. Select Email.
2. Confirm the email address shown is the one you want codes sent to.
3. Select Send a one-time code. You’ll see a confirmation that the code was sent.
4. Check your inbox for an email from B-Stock with the subject “###### is your B-Stock verification code.” The code expires in 5 minutes.
5. Enter the code in Enter the one-time code.
6. Select Enable.
Option B — SMS
1. Select SMS.
2. Enter your mobile phone number.
3. Select Send a one-time code.
4. Check your text messages for the code. It expires in 5 minutes.
5. Enter the code in Enter the one-time code.
6. Select Enable.
Standard message and data rates from your mobile carrier may apply.
Option C — Authenticator app
Most secure and works without cell service or an internet connection.
1. Select Authenticator app.
2. Open your authenticator app on your phone and choose to add a new account.
3. Scan the QR code shown on screen. If you can’t scan it, enter the setup key printed beneath the instructions instead.
4. Your app will show a 6-digit code that refreshes every 30 seconds.
5. Enter that code in Enter the one-time code.
6. Select Enable.
Step 3 — Save your recovery codes
The first time you enable 2FA, we generate 10 recovery codes. These appear once and are never shown again.
A recovery code lets you sign in if you lose access to your phone, email, or authenticator app. It can also be used to turn 2FA off.
Save them now:
- Copy them into a password manager, or
- Write them down and keep them somewhere safe — not on the device you use to sign in
Each code works once. When you’re done, select Done to return to your account.
Step 4 — Signing in from now on
Enter your email and password as usual, then enter the verification code from your chosen method.
On the verification screen you can check Trust this device for 30 days. We won’t ask you for a code again on that device for 30 days, though you may still be asked if something about the sign-in looks unusual.
Only check this on a device that is yours. Leave it unchecked on a public computer or a device you share with others.
If your code doesn’t arrive, select Didn’t receive a code? Try another option.
Managing 2FA later
To add or remove a method you’ll need to verify first — either with a code from an active method, or with one of your recovery codes.
