Reverse logistics for the Olympics are underway before the Games have even begun and B-Stock is part of the action. Olympic Sponsor, RGS Events, the official furniture, fixtures and equipment provider of the 2016 Rio Games is currently overseeing all logistics for the furnishings in the Olympic Village athlete apartments (that will accommodate around 18,000 people!). This includes providing a sustainable outcome for the 1.3 million items of furniture once the Olympics are over.

Athlete Apartments

For its reverse logistics solution, RGS partnered with B-Stock on a gold-medal-worthy B2B marketplace to sell bulk quantities of beds, couches, chairs, tables and even trash cans from the athlete apartments and other venues. Everything is currently up for auction via our B-Stock Events marketplace and will be available for delivery following the Paralympics closing ceremony in September.

The story is already generating some buzz too. Check out coverage in USA Today and B2B E-Commerce News.
