B-Stock is so excited to welcome Lea Jacobson to the Product Design team this summer! As a summer teammate, we know Lea will be an incredible asset to the company. Lea is currently studying Human Factors Engineering at Tufts University. Learn a bit more about Lea and see her answers to some questions below.

Q: What are you most excited to learn at B-Stock?

I’m most excited to learn about how the product team’s design approach and how they go about creating intuitive user experiences. I’m also looking forward to learning more Figma skills!

Q: When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? (Or still want to be!)

A teacher

Q: What is one piece of advice you’ve been given that has stuck?

Try to embrace the present moment, it’s the only thing that’s ever truly real. The past and the future only exist in our minds.

Q: Where can people find you after work or school?

Walking around Central Park or hanging out with friends (or both!)

Q: What is a hidden talent of yours?

I can bake sourdough bread from scratch.

Q: What plays in the background while you work (music genre, podcast, news)?

I like to listen to really upbeat dance music while I’m working, it really motivates me to get my work done.

Q: Where would you go with unlimited PTO?

Hawaii

Q: What do you do when you’re stuck creatively? How do you get the creative juices flowing?

I usually put on some music and just draw in my sketchbook. I don’t aim to draw anything in particular, just to put whatever feels right in that moment on the page. This helps me settle and clear my mind.

Q: What’s something you’ve accomplished that you’re proud of?

I went on a 5-day backpacking trip with 7 other college freshmen whom I had never met before as part of my school’s optional pre-orientation program. I had never gone backpacking before, nor had I ever met the people I was about to spend 5 days in the wilderness with, with no phones and no bathrooms or showers.

I still remember the day we climbed to the summit of a mountain, and that was the day that I decided to be leader (we switched off who led the front of the group every now and then). Reaching the summit was unlike anything I had ever seen or experienced before. It felt like we were above the clouds, and the wind was so strong that I could barely hear my group behind me.

Despite being nervous and having very little backpacking experience, by the end of the trip I had become so close with my group and had a newfound appreciation for nature, something that’s easy to take for granted growing up in New York City. I’m proud of myself for pushing past my fears and uncertainty, and for allowing myself to see how much more there is to experience if you can be a little courageous every now and then.

Q: What is one thing you hope to contribute to B-Stock?

I hope to help contribute to the success of the 3MP redesign. I think there is a lot of potential to create a platform that is intuitive and delightful for all users, and it would be really amazing to help create a positive user experience.

When Consumers Pull Back, Where Does Your Excess Inventory Go?
