B-Stock is so excited to welcome Arran Wass-Little to the Product team this summer! As a summer teammate, we know Arran will be an incredible asset to the company. Arran is currently studying Data Science and Economics at the University of Florida. Learn a bit more about Arran and see his answers to some questions below.

Q: What are you most excited to learn at B-Stock?

I’m most looking forward to learning about how data drives business at B-Stock, and how it can be leveraged. The work being done to advance the product is interesting and engaging, and I’m excited to be here.

Q: When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? (Or still want to be!)

When I was a kid, I wanted to be an actor. That changed over the years, but I still really enjoy movies, TV, and theatre.

Q: What is one piece of advice you’ve been given that has stuck?

When you hear hooves beat, think horses, not zebras. It’s advice given to medical students for diagnostics, that you should think of the most probable diagnosis before jumping to unlikely situations. My friend told me this and I’ve found it applies to both business and personal situations. It’s far too easy to stress and overthink a problem, and I’m reminded to not jump to the worst-case scenario.

Q: Where can people find you after work or school?

People could probably find me playing card games or board games with friends, or cooking good food in the kitchen.

Q: What is a hidden talent of yours?

I used to do magic when I was a kid, so I’m quite good with a deck of cards and still remember some decent tricks!

Q: What plays in the background while you work (music genre, podcast, news)?

Depends on the task, but generally lo-fi hip hop or I’ve been really into Spotify’s new AI DJ.

Q:  Where would you go with unlimited PTO?

I’d love to see the Mediterranean and Middle East. Specifically, Greece, Turkey, Armenia, Lebanon, and Jordan.

Q: What do you do when you’re stuck creatively? How do you get the creative juices flowing?

Take a break. I find when I’m hitting a wall, the best, but often most difficult to admit, is to take a step away and come back later.

Q: What’s something you’ve accomplished that you’re proud of?

Having just graduated, I feel like I’m fresh on the joy of being done with school (for now). Going to university all through the pandemic was challenging, and I’m proud of all that I accomplished.

Q: What is one thing you hope to contribute to B-Stock?

I’d really like to make an impact within my team in a specific and tangible way. 10 weeks isn’t a long time, but I think if I focus in on a project I can do a lot in a small way.
