B-Stock is so excited to welcome Kassandra Jordan to the Engineering team this summer! As a summer teammate, we know Kassandra will be an incredible asset to the company. Kassandra is currently studying Computer Science at Cornell University. Learn a bit more about Kassandra and see their answers to some questions below.

Q: What are you most excited to learn at B-Stock?

I am most excited to learn more about backend Python, navigating a large team setting, and getting to know my teammates!

Q: When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? (Or still want to be!)

When I was a kid, I wanted to become a veterinarian (specifically one that worked in emergency cases). Think maybe SPCA or VetRanch in terms of the media I consumed when I was hooked on the idea.

Q: What is one piece of advice you’ve been given that has stuck?

“Sleep on it.” No matter the application, I have always found this advice helpful. Stuck debugging? Sleep on it. Want to buy a mattress? Sleep on it.

Q: Where can people find you after work or school?

You can find me doing whatever is my newest hobby (rock climbing), watching TV (on a Star Trek binge between Discovery, DS9, and SNW), or reading. I am also always open to trying new things so I will hopefully be out and about.

Q: What is a hidden talent of yours?

I can draw pretty well!

Q: What plays in the background while you work (music genre, podcast, news)?

I tend to work best with white noise in the background or with music in languages I cannot understand.

Q: Where would you go with unlimited PTO?

I would visit every country and maybe dabble in some flavor of journalism.

Q: What do you do when you’re stuck creatively? How do you get the creative juices flowing?

Listening to music or taking walks have always helped me when I have hit a wall creatively. To get back into it, I tend to create anything as a mock-up to reduce the pressure of getting something correct the first go around.

Q: What’s something you’ve accomplished that you’re proud of?

I am proud of myself for exploring different hobbies and fields (which eventually led me to computer science).

Q: What is one thing you hope to contribute to B-Stock?

I hope to contribute to a positive and supportive environment. In terms of deliverability, I would love to see our current project to completion.
