We’re proud to announce that our very own Emel Meteoglu—Vice President of Product—has earned a Women in Supply Chain award by Supply & Demand Chain Executive magazine! The award is the first for the publication that is dedicated only to women and honors female supply chain leaders and executives whose accomplishments, mentorship, and examples set a foundation for women in all levels of a company’s supply chain network.

About the Award

“We received over 200 entries for this new award, entries that were submitted from a combination of men and women. This proves that our industry needed an award like this, especially in conjunction with Supply & Demand Chain Executive’s 20-year anniversary,” says Marina Mayer, editor-in-chief of Supply & Demand Chain Executive and Food Logistics. “According to Gartner’s 2020 Women in Supply Chain Survey, 17% of chief supply chain officers are now women—a 6% increase compared to 2019. This award resembles females supporting other female leaders; men supporting their female counterparts. It resembles the future. It represents growth, evolution and community. And, that future shows that it’s a great time to be a part of the supply chain industry. So, congratulations to these top female leaders. I look forward to seeing what else you do to grow the supply chain industry.”

What Makes Emel a Woman of the Supply Chain?

Emel serves as the Vice President of Product for B-Stock—an industry leader in the digital liquidation platform space. B-Stock was built on the idea that technology and analytics could revolutionize how organizations handle their excess and customer-returned inventory, including how to create an efficient and sustainable process for the last mile of the reverse supply chain: liquidation. Since joining B-Stock, Emel has set out to make big improvements; not just in B-Stock’s services, but also in the company vision and its global impact.

Emel currently leads B-Stock’s efforts to build a new platform designed to improve the consumer experience in the supply chain. Some of her current initiatives include:

  • Enabling large retailers to provide a better e-commerce experience for customers through flexible return policies, in which B-Stock manages their returned and excess goods
  • Empowering new entrepreneurs to launch their own businesses and helping SMB expand their current operations by providing fair and direct access to returned, excess, and other liquidation inventory previously inaccessible before the B-Stock platform.
  • Creating a more sustainable solution for the planet by giving a second, third, and even fourth life to challenged inventory while increasing reuse.

Emel’s Take on Women in Supply Chain

“The supply chain can be—and typically is—at the forefront of any logistics and services company. One of the core values and functions of B-Stock is to help enable solutions for companies’ logistics challenges, and as the supply chain industry shifts globally, it is our collective responsibility as industries in the space to reduce our carbon footprint. The role of women specifically in this, as in any realm, is to leverage our diversity to bring new perspectives, solutions and approaches to the industry. We know that diversity leads to innovation, so it is our job to not only help drive that innovation but make room for other women and well as minorities to step into that space and bring their contributions.”
