Amazon requires all Buyers to enroll in their Amazon Tax Exemption Program (ATEP) by creating or uploading a tax exemption certificate within their portal.
You must complete ATEP enrollment after you win your first auction from Amazon within 3 business days of the auction close date or your order will be canceled.
Enrollment should only take about ten minutes and, once completed, you will receive a confirmation email from Amazon within 2 business days that your registration was successful.
Here are a few things you should know before you enroll:

- You must still enter your Amazon retail account email address to B-Stock through the “My Account” section of your profile.
- If you don‘t have an Amazon.com retail account you must create one.
- You cannot use an Amazon Business account.
- The Company Name on your Amazon.com Account & ATEP enrollment form must match the Company Name associated with your B-Stock account
- Your Amazon.com ATEP account email does not need to be the same as your B-Stock account email but your business name and address must match.
- Exemption numbers or exemption form (if applicable)
- Please allow 24 hours for approval if you are located in: CO, DC, FL, LA, ME, NM
You need the following information to complete your enrollment:
- Business name & address.
- Territory/state in which you wish to enroll
- You should enroll in all States where you plan to ship inventory to.
- Tax Exemption numbers or exemption form (if applicable)
How to Complete ATEP Enrollment
For more assistance, please read this step by step guide on how to complete your ATEP enrollment or watch the following video:
Step 1 - Visit ATEP page on Amazon.com
If you already have an Amazon.com account, visit the ATEP wizard by clicking here or navigating to Amazon.com > Your Account > Other programs > Amazon tax exemption program.
If you do not have an Amazon.com account or your existing account information does not match the business name and billing address associated with your B-Stock account you will need to create one.
Your Amazon.com account email address does not need to be the same as your B-Stock account email.
Step 2 - Select Your State(s)
Select the state where you hold your resale certificate and plan to receive inventory.
If you hold a resale certificate and in more than one state you may register in multiple states at once.
After you have selected your state(s), click to confirm:
Step 3 - Select “Resale” Exemption
Select ‘Resale‘ as the type of exemption; this program is for Resale only.
Note for Colorado businesses: If you hold a Resale certificate in Colorado for Centennial, Colorado Springs or Fort Collins, do not forget to complete this portion of the ATEP wizard.
If you do not complete this, you will only be exempt from state tax and will be charged local tax.
Step 4 - Complete or Upload Your Certificate
Fill out the remaining information required to create an exemption certificate.
Certain states do not allow Amazon to create an exemption certificate and require uploads of resale certificates; these states are: DC, FL, LA, ME, NM, CO.
For these states you will be prompted to upload a copy of your documentation.
To avoid any delays in approval please upload a clean and legible copy of your Tax Exemption Document.
Step 5 - Review Information and Sign Form
Review all the information you entered and then sign the document. You can use your mouse or stylist to complete this. Make sure to agree to the Terms and Conditions of the program and then hit “Activate Certificates”.
If you completed creating a certificate, your exemption should active within 1 business day. If you uploaded your documentation, it may take up to 2 business days for approval.
You will receive an email notification from Amazon when your tax exemption status has been approved. Your certificate will also show as “Active” under ATEP page > “Exemption Status” once you have been approved.
If there are any issues with your documentation resulting in unconfirmed tax exemption, you will receive an email from Amazon.
Please do not sign up for or use an Amazon Business account.
Step 6 - Add your Amazon Email Address to your B-Stock Account
Navigate to your B-Stock Amazon US Account > “My Account” > “Add Amazon.com Email”
Note: This must be the Amazon.com retail account used to enroll in ATEP.
You must use the Amazon email address you used to complete your ATEP enrollment.
