(Cosmetic Inspection & Functional Testing)

Cosmetic defects are assessed by visual inspection. Technicians view devices from 16 to 20 inches to identify defects. The types and locations of defects on a device determine its cosmetic grade.

Functional defects are assessed using proprietary software.

Removable batteries and battery covers are not included with the devices for which they are applicable. Chargers, styluses, wristbands, and all other accessories may or may not be included.

Units may have undergone repair. OEM parts are not guaranteed.

  • All surfaces of the device, including the display, are like new; no apparent signs of use.
  • Fully functional; passes all functional tests.
  • Has 70%+ battery health.
A+(T)
  • All surfaces of the device, including the display, may have light scratches.
  • Fully functional; passes all functional tests.
  • Has 70%+ battery health.
A(T)
  • All surfaces of the device, including the display, may have light scratches.
  • Partially functional; passes key functionality tests and has a functional display/digitizer with no burn-in.
  • Passed all of the following tests: wi-fi, rear camera, speaker, microphone, exterior buttons.
  • Failed one or more of the following tests: backlight, proximity sensor, vibrator, headset jack, bluetooth, GPS, LDI trip, front camera, fingerprint/facial recognition.
B+(T)
  • All surfaces of the device, including the display, may have heavy scratches.
  • Device housing, ports, and display boarders may have dents, dings, delamination, and/or discoloration.
  • Fully functional; passes all functional tests.
  • May have minor burn-in.
B(T)
  • All surfaces of the device, including the display, may have heavy scratches.
  • Device housing, ports, and display boarders may have dents, dings, delamination, and/or discoloration.
  • Partially functional; passes key functionality tests and has a functional display/digitizer which may have minor burn-in.
  • Failed one or more of the following tests: wi-fi, rear camera, speaker, microphone, exterior buttons, backlight, proximity sensor, vibrator, headset jack, bluetooth, GPS, LDI trip, front camera, fingerprint/facial recognition.
C+(T)
  • All surfaces of the device, including the display, may have heavy scratches.
  • Device housing, ports, and display boarders may have dents, dings, delamination, and/or discoloration.
  • Back side of the device may have heavy scratches, chips, cracks, dents, dings, delamination, and/or discoloration.
  • SIM/SD tray(s) may be missing.
  • Fully functional; passes all functional tests.
  • Display may have minor burn-in.
C(T)
  • All surfaces of the device, including the display, may have heavy scratches, chips, cracks, dents, dings, delamination, and/or discoloration.
  • Device housing may be warped/bent.
  • SIM/SD tray(s) may be missing.
  • Passes key functionality tests.
  • Display/digitizer may be non-functional or have major burn-in.
  • Failed one or more of the following tests: wi-fi, rear camera, speaker, microphone, exterior buttons, backlight, proximity sensor, vibrator, headset jack, bluetooth, GPS, LDI trip, front camera, fingerprint/facial recognition.
RR(T)
  • All surfaces of the device, including the display, may have heavy scratches, chips, cracks, dents, dings, delamination, and/or discoloration.
  • Device housing may be warped/bent.
  • SIM/SD tray(s) may be missing.
  • Data cleared.
  • Fails one or more key functionality tests.
  • Display/digitizer may be non-functional or have major burn-in.
  • Failed one or more of the following tests: wi-fi, rear camera, speaker, microphone, exterior buttons, backlight, proximity sensor, vibrator, headset jack, bluetooth, GPS, LDI trip, front camera, fingerprint/facial recognition.


Glossary

Cosmetic Defects
Light Scratches – Normal wear and tear outside of abuse.
Heavy Scratches – Easily noticed during proper visual inspection.
Chips – A piece of material missing or removed.
Warped/Bent – Visually bent or twisted out of shape.
Delamination – Separation of layers in lens.
Dings – A minor depression in a surface from a blow.
Dents - A major depression in a surface from a blow.
Discoloration – Area/surface that has a different color, faded, or stained.
Cracks – Break without a complete separation of the parts.
Missing - Not able to be found because it is not in its expected place.

Functional Tests
Key Functionality – Data cleared, activation locks disabled, powers on, charges, and establishes network connection.
Additional Functionality – Wi-fi, rear camera, speaker, microphone, exterior buttons, backlight, proximity sensor, vibrator, headset jack, Bluetooth, GPS, LDI trip, front camera, fingerprint/facial recognition.


WEARABLES CONDITIONS
Grade A Light Wear and Tear: Wearable is fully intact, free of cracks, breaks and missing pieces. Minor scratches and blemishes allowed on display, sides and back. Functional LCD, Touchscreen/Digitizer, speaker/receiver and charger. LDI not tripped.
Grade B More Aggressive Wear and Tear Cosmetics: Wearable is fully intact, screen is free of cracks, breaks and missing pieces. Moderate scratches and blemishes allowed on display, sides and back. Functional LCD, Touchscreen/Digitizer and speaker/receiver. Back is allowed to have cracks, breaks and missing pieces. LDI tripped is allowed.
Grade C Heavy Cosmetic Damage: Cracks, breaks and missing pieces allowed. Excessive damage allowed on display, sides and back. LDI tripped is allowed.


ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS
New Brand new in original retail packaging, with all original accessories. Retail packaging may be unsealed.
Overstock Unused and never sold at retail. May or may not include original packaging and accessories.
Refurbished Pre-owned devices that have been repaired to full functionality. May show signs of minor wear and tear.
Used Pre-owned devices that have not been functionally tested or cosmetically graded.
